Sue is co-founder of The Baby Academy, Midwife, Antenatal Instructor and a busy Mum of two. With over 15 years’ experience, Sue has worked in all areas of Midwifery such as Delivery Suite, Antenatal wards, Postnatal wards and currently manages The Antenatal Education Department in one of the country’s largest Maternity Hospitals.
Faith is an experienced Midwife with almost a decade of experience and brings a wealth of knowledge to The Baby Academy team. She practices at an academic hospital in one of the countries largest cities. Faith has a deep passion for educating expectant parents with the most up-to-date and evidence-based information and looks forward to supporting you on your journey into parenthood.
Celeste has been a midwife for over 15 years. Having lectured midwifery students from the start of her career, clinically (in labour wards, antenatal and postnatal wards) as well in the lecture halls, Celeste’s passion lies in antenatal and postnatal childbirth education classes. Her belief is that knowledge is power and that if you fully understand the events leading up to childbirth, this takes the “fear of the unknown” out of the equation, giving you a well informed and calculated decision during this exciting time of your life.
Along with being an experienced Midwife and Instructor, Celeste is also a mom to two adult daughters.
Lizane has over a decade of experience in her midwifery career and has worked in all areas of maternity care…with her heart still belonging in the labour ward! Having worked in both the public and private sectors of healthcare, she brings knowledge and experience that is applicable to each mom’s unique birthing plans. She specialised in teenage pregnancy, something she is very passionate about and is a mom to two busy little twin girls.
Sarah is a passionate and dedicated mom and midwife. With an avid interest in both antenatal and postnatal care, her drive and motivation are stimulated by the diverse cases of mothers and babies she has treated and engaged with over the past 12 years in various healthcare facilities in South Africa. Sarah believes that pregnancy and motherhood is an individualised beautiful unique experience for all women, therefore, her key goal is to simulate a stress-free supportive environment for all moms.
Ingrid is a Registered Nurse and Independent Midwife, Childbirth educator and an IBCLC. She has been in the field of midwifery for the last 2 and half decades. After seeing a need for working with pregnant, birthing, and young families, she continued her education in Advanced Midwifery and neonatology. Ingrid then started working in private practice, serving a big geographical area offering antenatal and postnatal care, midwife-led births, and baby clinic services. Being incredibly passionate about education, Ingrid is determined to help empower pregnant couples for their birth as well as into parenthood.
Breastfeeding is also a topic close to her heart and has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for 19 years, teaching, helping, and supporting new families with breastfeeding. Ingrid feels privileged to be able to work her passion and to meet and get to know so many couples in a very special part of their lives.
Jenna is a specialist midwife, childbirth educator, South African Lactation Consultant as well as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). She has worked at a busy academic maternity hospital delivering babies, working in the neonatal ICU and in the bustling postnatal ward. She has completed her Masters in Midwifery and Neonatology and has also had the opportunity to teach midwives. She has one treasured daughter and spends most of her time working in the community midwifery setting. She loves the way breastfeeding can be the answer to so many of our parenting questions and loves walking the journey from preparation to accomplishing families’ breastfeeding goals.
Carey is a Certified South African Lactation Consultant, has a master’s degree in Medicine and is a registered Dietitian. She has worked in both government and private sector settings for almost 20 years, focusing on individualized assessment and breastfeeding support for moms. Carey is involved in training Health Care Professionals on how best to support mothers who are breastfeeding. She regularly composes articles on breastfeeding topics for baby magazines and online formats. Carey is a mother to 2 healthy children who were born prematurely. It is through her own mothering journey that she has learnt to combine the technical knowledge about breast feeding with the practical. Her journey highlighted how important it is for parents to have evidence-based breastfeeding information and support. She also helps companies and their employees to find positive solutions to expressing breast milk in the workspace.
